The Accreditation and Approval Review Committee (AARC) on Education in Human Lactation and Breastfeeding, is jointly sponsored by ILCA and IBLCE and is the formal accreditation and approval body for education in the lactation consultant profession.
AARC’s primary mission and obligation is to ensure that educational programs meet the minimum standards of quality to prepare individuals to enter the profession. AARC recognition is a formal, non-governmental, peer-review process of voluntary self evaluation. AARC recognition will be granted on two levels:
AARC Approval of Courses – free-standing courses
AARC Accreditation of Providers – university-based academic programs
