California Health Care Reform

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) is the federal health reform law enacted in 2010 that aims to provide affordable health insurance to more people, including refugees. Visit the following links to learn more about ACA implementation in California.

  • Covered California is the new online “marketplace” where consumers can compare and purchase health insurance and determine eligibility for financial assistance to help with the cost of health coverage.

  • California Health Benefit Exchange

  • The California Health Benefit Exchange is an independent public entity within state government whose mission is to increase the number of insured Californians, improve health care quality, lower costs, and reduce health disparities through its oversite and implementation of the new California insurance marketplace.
