Evaluation and decision-making regarding CPG applications is currently underway, with a mix of internal Office of AIDS staff and external partners contributing to the application review process. We anticipate management will make a final decision on CPG members by January 23, 2014, in which all applicants will be notified shortly thereafter. If there are any changes to this timeline, we will keep you updated.
We appreciate your interest in CPG and continued patience. Please feel free to contact Liz Hall at 916-449-5951 or email@example.com with any questions or concerns.
California Planning Group (CPG) Application Update
November 22, 2013
Please note that the time frame for evaluation and decision-making regarding CPG applications has been extended. The Office of AIDS has determined that additional targeted recruitment should be conducted in order to ensure that the CPG membership reflects balanced statewide representation among those most affected by the epidemic.
As a result, all applications submitted to date are still active and valid, but final membership decisions have not yet been made. OA hopes to conclude the recruitment process by year's end. More specific information regarding timelines will be posted as soon as details have been finalized.
In the meantime, any comments, questions, or concerns about the application process may be directed to Liz Hall at 916-449-5951 or firstname.lastname@example.org

The California Department of Public Health’s Office of AIDS (OA) is presently recruiting people interested in taking part in statewide HIV planning as members of the 2013-2016 term of the California Planning Group (CPG).
HIV planning is a collaborative process that enables key stakeholders, communities, and providers to engage in active and ongoing dialogue with OA in order to reach the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. CPG members work in partnership with OA through planning and advisory activities aimed at reducing new HIV infections, increasing access to care and improving health outcomes for persons living with HIV, and reducing HIV-related health disparities in California.
CPG’s planning responsibilities include participating in the update, revision, and implementation of California’s Integrated HIV Surveillance, Prevention, and Care Plan (PDF) .
CPG’s advisory function includes informing OA regarding local trends or newly-emerging populations in the epidemic, assisting in the statewide needs assessment, unmet need, and gap analysis process, and providing community input on OA’s work.
CPG members will be expected to meet in person twice a year (if travel is not limited by budget restrictions, as travel costs will be covered by OA) and via teleconference or webinar twice a year. Additional teleconferences or webinars may be scheduled to address specific planning or advisory needs as they arise. More information regarding CPG responsibilities and required work products (PDF).
OA is reaching out to recruit members that represent the diversity of HIV-positive populations, providers and stakeholders in HIV prevention and care, and representatives of services and organizations engaged with identifying the social and structural determinants of HIV-related health. In order to ensure that the membership reflects the principles of statewide parity, inclusion, and representation and that affected communities, providers, and key partners are included, some CPG members will be selected via an open application process while others will be nominated by their local HIV planning bodies.
Active partnerships between OA, community members, and other stakeholders are critical for aligning efforts statewide toward achieving the goals of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. Your support and participation in CPG, whether as a voting member, a collaborative partner, or a technical advisor is welcomed and encouraged.
