World Diabetes Day is an official United Nation’s World Health Day. www.worlddiabetesday.org

Created by the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization in response to growing concerns about the escalating threat of diabetes worldwide. In California alone, there are over 3.7 million people with diabetes (1 in 7 adults).

It is a global event where monuments in countries all over the world are lit it blue to raise awareness about diabetes.

The blue circle is the global symbol of diabetes and signifies the unity of the global diabetes community in response to the diabetes pandemic.

Bring Diabetes to Light - How will you recognize World Diabetes Day?

If you are in Sacramento you can watch the State Capitol turn BLUE at 5:30pm on Sunday November 14th, join the event with Jazzercise, Soul Line Dancing and celebrity speakers (Ben Vereen and Jake Steinfled have been invited). Taste healthy foods and visit exhibits. Connect with GEDE members too!
