Welcome to the State of California

 Partnership Banner

Low-income California families face rising rates of obesity, sedentary lifestyle, food insecurity, and hunger that sometimes contribute to preventable health problems. The Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (NEOP) Branch brings organizations together to address a common goal and mission. That mission is to create innovative relationships that empower low-income Californians to increase fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and food security, with the goal of preventing obesity and other diet-related chronic diseases. Collaboration at the state and local levels is vital for NEOP in efforts to reach individuals, families, and entire low-income communities to maximize the impact of nutrition education through California’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.

NEOP Partnerships work collaboratively to promote integrated, cross-cutting programs. Innovative partnerships support NEOP in a joint effort to widen the SNAP-Ed and CalFresh reach and to increase program effectiveness, empowering low-income Californian’s to make healthy food and physical activity choices.
