Qualifying community organizations in California can request free copies of Rethink Your Drink educational and promotional materials through the local health department in their county. Material can be purchased at ChampionsForChangeMaterials.net. For questions, please contact the Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch (NEOPB) at (916) 449-5400.

These colorful bookmarks make a nice take-away for parents and adult caregivers working with young children. Created in collaboration with the Contra Costa Child Care Council, the bookmarks offer tips to increase the consumption of fruit and vegetables, whole grains, and healthy beverages, and can be used in conjunction with a variety of nutrition education activities.

Potter the Otter 

Designed for early care and education settings, the popular “Potter the Otter” characters from the book series created by First 5 Santa Clara are featured in worksheets, tips sheets, posters, and handouts. The worksheets and online activities reinforce key nutrition education points.
The Potter the Otter materials listed below are available in print form, unless otherwise noted. Other print materials available include: Postcard, Stickers, and Stick Puppets.

It’s Picnic Day, Potter! Book (PDF, Eng/Spa)

Follow Potter the Otter as he gets ready for a picnic by choosing healthy food and drinks to pack and games to play outside with his friends. Download the free digital book at www.scholastic.com/first5CA. The Scholastic site also includes California Common Core-ready materials for Pre-K and Kindergarten classrooms and Kindergarten readiness guides and activities for families.

Note: This is the only book in the Potter the Otter book series that has been approved for SNAP-Ed use. The first book, Potter the Otter Loves to Drink Water, is not approved for SNAP-Ed distribution. The book, online activities, and upcoming events are available at www.potterloveswater.com.
