Requests for Food Policy Changes

The California WIC Program accepts requests for food policy changes on an annual basis during the month of August.  If you have a product that you would like us to consider authorizing that meets USDA Food Eligibility Requirements but does not meet California WIC's current food policies, you may submit a request during that time.

To request a policy changes, follow the procedure below:

• Review USDA Food Eligibility Requirements to ensure your product can be authorized for use in WIC programs: http://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/benefitsandservices/manufacturerinfo.HTM 
• Review California WIC's food policies: California WIC Food Policy Manual and the WIC Authorized Food List Shopping Guide
• Send requests for food policy changes in letter form and indicate which products are to be considered, including assurances that the products have received USDA approval for use in WIC programs.

Policy change request letters must be postmarked between August 1 and 31, 2012 and sent to:
