Public Comments

Two documents have been placed under the December 5, 2007 Meeting Materials section for public comment http://www.cdph.ca.gov/services/boards/HSCR/Pages/HumanStemCellResearchAdvisoryCommitteeMeetings2007.aspx.  These documents are the draft reporting forms created for Stem Cell Research Oversight (SCRO) Committees reviewing human embryonic stem cell research (HSCR1260-1) and for research projects procuring human oocytes through assisted oocyte production (AOP) or any alternative method (HSCR1260-2) of oocyte retrieval pursuant to Health and Safety Code §125119 and §125330.

Every SCRO Committee in California reviewing human embryonic stem cell research which is not fully funded by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) must report to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on each project annually.  Every facility/research project involving AOP or any alternative method of human oocyte retrieval solely for the purpose of stem cell or medical research must submit a written record to CDPH containing specific information regarding each oocyte donor (research subject) annually.

Public comment on these documents is encouraged. The HSCR Advisory Committee will be discussing the drafts of these reporting forms at their December 5, 2007 meeting.  The CDPH will consider all of the recommendations made by the public and the HSCR Advisory Committee for incorporation into the final reporting forms.  Please e-mail your comments by December 2, 2007 to stemcell@cdph.ca.gov.
