Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation & Prevention Program (FFFIPP)

A firefighter carries a hose in the parking lot of a residential building amid heavy smoke.Nearly 33,000 firefighters protect Californians and their property from fire, the most of any state. The NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program (FFFIPP) investigates firefighter line-of-duty fatalities to address occupational hazards and prevent future deaths and injuries. OHB investigated fatalities primarily ā€‹ in California and the Western U.S.​​​​​
