Annual Palliative Care Pilot Program
The Palliative Care Pilot Program (PCPP) was created through Senate Bill 294 (Chapter 515, Statutes 2017) to expand palliative care services. Hospice care has been limited to terminally ill patients who have agreed to forgo curative treatment. The PCPP permits hospices to provide palliative care to patients with a serious illness. āSerious illnessā is defined in HSC 1747.3(k), as a condition that may result in death, regardless of the estimated length of the patientās remaining period of life.
PCPP reports for 2021 participation are due on April 30, 2022. The reporting portal will be open December 31, 2021āApril 30, 2022.
Licensed hospices participating in the Palliative Care Pilot Program (PCPP) are required to complete and submit a Palliative Care Pilot Program Data Report pursuant to Health and Safety Code section 1747.3(d), through the California Department of Public Healthās reporting website. This report is due annually, on or before April 30 of 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025.
