What is PrEP and PEP?

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is medication an individual can take to prevent the acquisition of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) is medication an individual can take within 72 hours after a potential exposure to HIV to prevent the acquisition of HIV.

PrEP-AP Mission & Vision

The mission of PrEP-AP is to ensure that all at-risk, eligible Californians have access to medical care and services to prevent new HIV infections. We envision leading the U.S. in ending the HIV epidemic. Working in concert with other entities, we will empower individuals to protect themselves from HIV and create a California free from stigma, shame, and fear related to HIV.
