Health Services
The Behavioral Health Services (BHS) Division provides
mental health and alcohol or other drug services for children, youth, families,
adults, and older adults. BHS promotes recovery and well-being through
prevention, treatment, and intervention, as well as integrated services for
clients experiencing both mental illness and alcohol or other drug issues.
Services are offered through contracted providers and County-operated
facilities.
County
Public Health Services
Public Health Services is dedicated to community wellness
and health protection in San Diego County. Public Health Services works to
prevent epidemics and the spread of disease, protect against environmental
hazards, prevent injuries, promote and encourage healthy behaviors, respond to
disasters and assist communities in recovery and assure the quality and
accessibility of health services throughout the county.
Resettlement Agencies
International Rescue Committee
The International Rescue Committee responds to the
worldās worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore health, safety, education,
economic wellbeing, and power to people devastated by conflict and
disaster.
Catholic Charities
One of the primary objectives of Catholic Charities in
San Diego is to support low income families and individuals who are trying to
improve their living situation and who are working towards self-sufficiency. The
non-profit may have limited financial assistance for emergency expenses, and
social workers and case managers from the San Diego Catholic Charities can also
leverage other resources and government aid. Programs work on behalf of the
working poor, single women, unemployed, and others in the San Diego County
region.

2-1-1 Information
2-1-1 San Diego's mission is to help people by connecting
them efficiently to services and provide vital data and trend information for
proactive community planning.
Food Bank
The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the
largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. Last year, the Food Bank
distributed 22 million pounds of food, and the Food Bank serves, on average,
400,000 people per month in San Diego County.
CALfresh Food Assistance
The CalFresh Program helps to improve the health and
well-being of qualified households and individuals by providing them a means to
meet their nutritional needs.
Childcare
Assistance
Our local San Diego County CEL is here to support
families in need of help paying for child care. In San Diego County, the YMCA
Childcare Resource Service administers the CEL.
Housing Authority
Our goal is to help families find safe, affordable
housing and to work with property owners to increase the supply of quality,
economical places to live. We are the San Diego County Department of Housing and
Community Development (HCD) and we also serve as the Housing Authority for the
County. Our services include assisting low-income people and increasing the
amount of safe, affordable housing within our County.
Social Services
The Agency provides a broad range of health and social
services to promote wellness, self-sufficiency, and a better quality of life for
individuals and families in San Diego County. The Agency integrates health and
social services through a unified service-delivery system that is family focused
and community-based.
American Red Cross
We provide food and shelter in emergencies, assist
members of our armed forces and their families, teach lifesaving skills, and
more. All American Red Cross disaster assistance is free, made possible by
voluntary donations of time and money from the American people.
