Clinical Laboratory Technology Advisory Committee (CLTAC)

The Clinical Laboratory Technology Advisory Committee (CLTAC) plays a vital role in advising the Department on matters related to clinical laboratories. CLTAC is mandated by statute at Business and Professions Code, Section 1228 to “assist, advise, and make recommendations for the establishment of rules and regulations necessary to insure proper administration and enforcement of the provisions of this chapter and to assist and advise the department in matters concerning examinations for licensees of this chapter….”

The CLTAC is a multidisciplinary committee. It is composed of 21 voting members and one non-voting member who represent the various interest groups related to clinical laboratories. Interested members of the public are welcome to attend the meetings.

Meeting & videoconference

Until further notice, CLTAC meetings will be held both virtually and in-person. To reserve, e-mail luis.cruz@cdph.ca.gov. Masks will be provided, and social distancing is recommended.

Notice: CLTAC Advisory Committee on Hiatus

The Clinical Laboratory Technology Advisory Committee (CLTAC) is currently on hiatus as the Department undertakes a comprehensive review and update of the committee's bylaws. This pause will allow us to align the committee's structure and membership with the Department's current charge under Business and Professions Code, Section 1228, and ensure broader and more equitable stakeholder representation moving forward.

During this period, the Department is also working to recruit new committee members who reflect the expertise needed to support the committee's mission effectively.

We appreciate your patience and continued engagement as we strengthen the foundation of CLTAC to better serve the public and the clinical laboratory community. Updates on the recruitment process and revised bylaws will be shared here as they become available.
