This page provides information about regulatory issues related to emergencies that may affect clinical and public health laboratories.
Currently, some laboratories are still requesting information regarding testing āsevere acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2ā (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes ācoronavirus disease 2019ā (COVID-19). Links to information and resources will be maintained on this page.

SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19 Information
On February 28, 2023, the Governor of California issued a proclamation terminating the stateās COVID-19 State of Emergency. On May 11, 2023, the federal COVID-19 public health emergency declaration ended.
The stateās SMARTER Plan will maintain Californiaās operational preparedness to address the next phase of the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to guide the stateās work to support communities across the state. Additionally, COVID-19 vaccines, testing, and treatment continue to be available at sites within local communities across the state.
