Dementia Friendly Community Initiative Pilot Project AWARD ANNOUNCEMENT: Alzheimerā€™s Disease Program

The California Department of Public Health Chronic Disease Control Branch's Alzheimer's Disease Program is pleased to announce the intent to award Sacramento County Department of Public Health for a Dementia Friendly Community Initiative pilot project. The local health jurisdiction shall receive $1,700,000 under the 2021ā€“2022 State of California Budget. The term of this contract

agreement will be October 17, 2022, through June 30, 2024.


The project aims to convene a community workgroup to assist with developing and implementing the Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative; assess the needs of the community; build the necessary infrastructure to create a dementia friendly community; establish a list of Brain Health activities focused on promoting health equity; and create long-term place-based interventions that support healthy behaviors, reduce health care costs, extend life expectancy and improve quality of life among the aging population.
