California Department of Aging and the Master Plan for Aging

California Master Plan for Aging — California's Master Plan for Aging (MPA) affirms the priority of the health and well-being of older Californians and people with disabilities. It is a “blueprint" to prepare the state for the coming demographic changes and continue California's leadership in aging, disability, and equity.

California's Aging Resource Guide — This guide shares resources and services available for older adults and their caregivers.

Friendship Line — Friendship Line California is a free crisis intervention hotline and a warmline for non-emergency emotional support calls for older adults.

Long-Term Care Ombudsman Office — The Ombudsman advocates for residents in long-term care facilities and their families facing issues related to day-to-day care, health, safety, etc.

Local Resources

California Area Agencies on Aging — To find aging services in your county (including transportation to appointments, home delivered meals, evidence-based health promotion programs, assistance with landlord issues, legal assistance, reporting elder abuse or neglect, caregiver resources, etc.). They can also be reached at (800) 510-2020.

2-1-1 — Information and referral helpline to community, social, government and health services that is searchable by county. Directs callers to a wide variety of services, including services for those 60+, disabled persons, and those who do not speak English. Transportation resources include travel training and paratransit "dial-a-ride." They can also be reached by dialing 2-1-1.

California Healthier Living Coalition — Provides a searchable map of California older adult health promotion classes near you.
