Environmental & Occupational Emergency Preparedness Team (E&O EPT)ā€‹

About Us
We are a multi-disciplinary team addressing environmental and occupational hazards and emergencies.

Our expertise is in Disaster Epidemiology; exposure science; public health emergency  preparedness and response;  partnerships; emergency management; population assessments; and data science.
 
We work with State, local, tribal, and federal government; healthcare; private sector; and community-based organizations to support preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation.

Investigations

Clearlake Geothermal Gas Investigation (PDF)

Environmental and Occupational EPT conducted an investigation of geothermal gas impacts on indoor air.

Haroā€™s Case Study (PDF)

Environmental and Occupational EPT investigated chemical hazard awareness and preparedness of nearby businesses after a plating shop fire.

Monterey Hotel Chlorine Release Investigation (PDF)

Environmental and Occupational EPT investigated the health impacts to workers and root causes of the incident which resulted from the mixing of incompatible chemicals and led to the formation of chlorine gas.

Scrap Metal Facility Chlorine Release Investigation (PDF)

Environmental and Occupational EPT conducted an Assessment of Chemical Exposures following a chlorine gas release at a scrap metal facility.

MMWR Pool Chlorine Release 2015 (PDF)

CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report article of the investigation related to chlorine inhalation injuries at public aquatic venues. 

Richmond Gas Leak Incident Investigation (PDF)

Environmental and Occupational EPT investigated the impact of a natural gas leak on CDPH staff at the Richmond Campus.
