Since 1998, IVPB has given a wide variety of awards throughout California to reduce or eliminate unintentional injuries in children and youth, focusing on areas such as:
- Bicycle safety
- Children left in parked cars and children run over by cars moving forward or backward
- Drowning prevention
- Fire safety
- Gun safety
- In-home safety
- Pedestrian safety
- Playground safety standards
- Poison control and safety
- Sleep suffocation and sudden infant death syndrome
- Sports-related concussions, heat stroke, and spinal injury safety
- Vehicular safety, including restraint, warnings, and education programs
The Kids' Plates program awards safety equipment to local non-profit organizations āāand has distributed thousands of safety equipment items over the years. Below is an example of the types and quantities of safety equipment items made possible by the Kids' Plates program:
