July 3, 2024 ā€”ā€‹ā€‹ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat sport-harvested bivalve shellfish, including mussels, clams, or scallops from Humboldt County. 

ā€‹CDPH Warnā€‹s Against Consuming Razor Clams from Humboldt Countyā€‹ā€‹

May 2, 2024 ā€” The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is advising consumers not to eat sport-harvested razor clams from Humboldt County. These clams were recently detected as having dangerous levels of domoic acid, which can cause Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning.   
ā€‹Annual Quarantine of Sport-Harvested Mussels Begins May 1ā€‹
April 19, 2024 ā€”ā€‹ā€‹ CDPH is implementing its annual quarantine for sport-harvested mussels gathered along the California coast beginning May 1. The quarantine does not apply to commercially sold mussels, clams, scallops, or oysters from CDPH approved sources. 

CDPH Warns of Possible Norovirus Infections from Imported Raw Mexican Oystersā€‹ā€‹
January 17, 2024 ā€”ā€‹ā€‹ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) is warning consumers not to eat raw oysters from Laguna De Guerrero Negro, Baja California, Mexico, Laguna Manuela, Baja California, Mexico, and Bahia Salina, Sonora, Mexico because they may be contaminated.

October 27, 2023ā€”ā€‹ The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) announced today that the statewide annual quarantine on mussels taken for human consumption by sport-harvesters from California's ocean waters ends at midnight on Tuesday October 31, 2023, for all coastal counties except San Mateo and San Luis Obispo.

May 23, 2019 - The Cā€‹ā€‹alifornia Department of Public Health (CDPH) lifted the rock crab health advisory today due to recent tests showing that domoic acid has declined to low or undetectable levels in rock crabs caught in state waters near Cape Mendocino (Latitude 40Ā° 30.00' N in Humboldt County) north to the Humboldt Bay entrance at the north jetty, including all ocean waters of Humboldt Bay.
