Housing Plus Project
For Consumers
Who We Are
In 2015, Office of AIDS (OA) requested via the In FY 2015-16 AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP) estimate process to reallocate $1.5 million in Ryan White base funding allocated in ADAP to the HIV Care Program (HCP). The reallocated funding was to support local health jurisdictions and/or community-based organizations to fund focused efforts to re-engage HIV-infected minority clients in medical care and treatment. To meet this new funding reallocation and address the National HIV/AIDS Strategy goal of reducing HIV-related disparities and health inequities, OA made the decision to create the Housing Plus Project (HPP). HPP aims to reduce homelessness, improve access to care, and increase the availability of safe, affordable housing for minority clients living with HIVā.
What We Provide
HPP is only available in Kern, San Joaquin, and Santa Clara Counties. HPP provides short-term housing assistance to HIV-positive clients through shallow rent subsidies. A shallow rent subsidy is financial assistance which pays a portion of a client's rent.
Who is Eligible
To be eligible for HPP services, individuals must (1) be HIV positive, (2) be temporarily or unstably housed or at-risk of becoming temporarily or unstably housed, and (3) not be receiving HOPWA rental assistance, Housing Choice Voucher program (formerly known as Section 8), or other housing assistance.
HPP serves clients regardless of their race or ethnicity.
