ā€‹May is Asthma Awareness Monthā€‹

May is Asthma Awareness Month, a month-long communication campaign to raise awareness about this serious lung disease. California Breathing created social media messages for organizations and others to increase awareness about asthma in California, asthma triggers, and asthma control.

Black Californians are 5 times more likely to go to the emergency room for asthma than White Californians. Manage your asthma and take control of your breathing by following these action steps:

  • Talk to a health care provider about managing your or your child's asthma.  
  • Update or create an Asthma Action Plan.  
  • Work with your health care provider or pharmacist to understand your asthma medication.
  • Identify your asthma triggers an d recognize when your symptoms get worse.
