Questions & Answers

*Revised 11/20/2024

Q1:
Does a Tribal TGI Health Care Grant application need to provide services within one of the three listed service areas?
A1:
The three listed service areas only pertain to the Rural TGI Health Care Grants. As stated in the RFA, “Funding for the Tribal TGI Health Care Grant is not tied to a specific geographic location or tribal trust lands. Proposed programs with wider geographic coverage will be assessed higher.”
Q2:
Our organization has both an LLC and nonprofit arm. Are we eligible to apply for this funding?
A2:
Funds under this opportunity cannot pass to or through an LLC. You must apply under the 501(c)3 and ensure that the funds remain within that arm.
Q3:
Does a harm reduction organization qualify as a medical provider?
A3:
Per California’s Health and Safety Code §150900, which establishes the TGI Fund, Health Care includes “Services related to substance use disorder or substance abuse.” Therefore, a harm reduction organization qualifies as a Health Care Provider specifically.
Q4:
Can a grantee awarded under previous funding with the TGI Unit apply for this opportunity?
A4:
Yes, so long as your organization meets the minimum requirements outlined in the RFA, you are able to apply. These grants are not mutually exclusive.
