Supplemental Information or Form

The submitting laboratory is encouraged to isolate STEC and submit suspect isolates along with broth. 

Form LAB 4ā€‹14 is required for submission of the broth and Form LAB 446  is required for submission of suspect STEC isolates.

Transport

For isolates accompanying broth, ship cultures on nonselective nutrient or similar agar in tubes with leak-proof screw cap closures.

Sample/Specimen Labeling

Testing subject to CLIA regulations require two patient identifiers on the specimen container and the test requisition.

Shipping Instructions which Include Specimen Handling Requirements

 ā€‹Transport all clinical specimens refrigerated using frozen gel packs. Do not use wet or dry ice.
