There are programs that can support you and your family access affordable internet in California.
Federally sponsored internet access programs
Affordable Connectivity Program
- The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) (formerly known as the Emergency Broadband Benefit) helps low-income households pay for internet service.
- If your household is eligible, you may receive:
- Up to $30/month discount on your internet service
- Up to $75/month discount if your household is on qualifying tribal lands
- A one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet, or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50)
Lifeline
- Lifeline provides affordable phone and internet service to low-income households.
- If your household is eligible, you may receive:
- Up to $9.25/month discount
- Up to $34.25/ month discount if your household is on qualifying tribal lands

- If you or your child or dependent participate in certain government assistance programs such as SNAP, Medicaid, WIC, or
other programs
- If you or your child or dependent already receives a Lifeline benefit

FAQs
Can I receive both the ACP and Lifeline benefits at the same time?

Yes. You can also combine these benefits with other state and local benefits where available. They can be applied to the same qualifying service or separately to a Lifeline service and an ACP service with the same or different providers.

If I already received Lifeline benefits, will I automatically receive the ACP benefit too?
|
No. You must opt-in with your existing provider or request enrollment in ACP with a participating internet provider. You may choose to receive the benefit from your current Lifeline provider or another provider.

How do I apply to ACP and/or Lifeline?
|
Eligible households can enroll through an approved provider or by visiting the
Federal communications commission webpage.

Does Lifeline or ACP offer high-speed internet?
|
The Biden-Harris administration recently secured partnerships with 20 internet service providers to bring high-speed internet to households with ACP. Eligible families who combine their ACP benefit with one of the providers can receive high-speed internet at no additional cost. You can find the
