All Facilities Letter (AFL) Summary

To ensure California has the information necessary to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, this AFL notifies APHs of the need to submit information to the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on the current status of bed space, the number and status of COVID-19 patients, and equipment availability at the facility.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) requests that APHs complete a one-time survey to report information about bed space, the number of COVID-19 patients, both confirmed positive and suspect patients, equipment and other urgent needs of the facility. Please submit this information no later than 5:00 PM Pacific time on April 24, 2020, by using this link.

This is a one-time survey to collect the information described above. All other reporting requirements to CDPH district offices will continue using the standard reporting process.

For the purposes of this AFL the following definitions apply:

  • "COVID suspect" means, persons with symptoms of COVID-19 or persons who are asymptomatic that have been exposed to a lab-confirmed case of COVID-19.
  • "COVID confirmed positive" means, an individual who has at least one respiratory specimen that tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19 by a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) laboratory, state or local public health laboratory, or commercial laboratory using Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-validated COVID-19 nucleic acid amplification (NAA) test.

If you have any questions about this AFL, please contact the CDPH Duty Officer at CHCQDutyOfficer@cdph.ca.gov
