In partnering with clients, families and communities to create culturally competent opportunities for Hope, Wellness and Recovery, the Mental Health Department (MHD) is committed to serving, improving and making a difference in the lives of Santa Clara County residents diagnosed with mental illness. Recovery from mental illness is a realistic goal and the Mental Health Department supports individuals and families in achieving this goal.

The Santa Clara County Public Health Department focuses on protecting and improving the health of communities through education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, disease and injury prevention, and the promotion of sound health policy. The Department is comprised of a highly diverse work force that encompasses many professional disciplines and several main areas of focus. The Department includes over 30 programs and services organized across seven divisions and centers.

The IRC provides opportunities for refugees to thrive in America. Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many have survived for years against incredible odds. They step off the plane with next to nothing but their dignity, hope and determination. In Northern California and many other regional offices across the country, the IRC helps them rebuild their lives.

Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County changes lives for good. We help people of all cultures and beliefs rise up out of poverty and overcome the barriers to self-sufficiency. Because most lives are a complex pattern of choices and circumstances, we take a holistic approach to helping people change their lives, taking into account the whole person as well as their family and life situations. We do this through a broad range of services, including job skills training and placement, older adult services, mental health and substance abuse counseling, housing assistance, financial education, immigration support, and refugee resettlement.

211 Santa Clara County, a program of United Way Silicon Valley, is the dialing code for free, non-emergency community, health and disaster information in Santa Clara County. Callers receive personalized information and referrals from a live, highly-trained Call Specialist who can answer questions about a variety of nonprofit services and agencies. 211 is confidential, available in over 170 languages and available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The CalFresh Program helps to improve the health and well-being of qualified households and individuals by providing them a means to meet their nutritional needs.

The Food Bank mobilizes individuals, companies, and community partners to connect people to the nutritious food they need. More than half of the food distributed is fresh produce. Second Harvest also plays a leading role in promoting federal nutrition programs and educating families on how to make healthier food choices.

Our child care counselors assist families in identifying child care and other community services that meet the specific needs of the child and family. Our staff and resources encompass a wide variety of cultural perspectives and language requirements of the families we serve. Parents have the freedom to choose any public or private licensed, registered or exempt child care program in the county.

The Social Services Agency is a culturally sensitive and socially responsible public agency providing high quality, professional, financial, and protective services for residents of Santa Clara County.

Our agency assists about 17,000 households through the federal rental housing assistance (Housing Choice Voucher, also known as Section 8) program. We also develop, control and manage affordable rental housing properties.

The American Red Cross of the Bay Area is part of the Northern California Coastal Region serving more than 7 million people and is comprised of the following chapters: California Northwest, Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and the Central Coast.
